Penn State Health Joint Replacement Symposium on Saturday was an excellent program allowing physicians, nurses and other health professionals to discuss interesting and impactful ideas about joint replacements.  One topic discussed was that utilization of physical therapy after joint replacement is evolving.  Many are not prescribing total hip or knee replacement patients to PT at all and some are prescribing it for a limited number of visits.  Many have moved away from home PT visits after surgery and are using outpatient PT immediately or teaching patients a home exercise program.
